Pity

Pity comes easy to us

For the poor,

For the vegetable vendor,

For the homeless

for the homecoming labourers

For the stray animals

For the one-sided lovers.

 

Pity – I think, is pain’s twin.

They come together,

Running into your arms

Also with a sigh sometimes.

 

“Bless Them!” says pity

“Thank you!. That  made me better” says gratitude

“You have your own problems as well” says pain
