Lockdown

I hear the birds chirping the usual way but there's no cacophony to deceive,

their voice today,

no honks, no vendors calling out emphatically,

neither busy markets nor populous squares,

it’s not a war zone but there is a war on,

there are ruins but the ruined oblivious,

building to building,

avenue to avenue,

a vast stretch of emptiness,

visited by impending fear,

and freedom of  fearless birds.
